Metallica & Guns N’ Roses Philharmonic: A Symphonic Rock Tribute for Bogotá’s 487th Birthday

As part of Bogotá’s 487th birthday celebrations and the 2025 Summer Festival, María Barbosa leads the Women’s Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá in a groundbreaking concert titled Metallica & Guns N’ Roses Philharmonic. This free, open-air event brings together the power of rock and the richness of the symphonic world in a dynamic musical tribute.

On August 6th at 6:00 p.m., the main stage of Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park becomes the setting for an unforgettable musical experience. Nearly 50 female musicians join forces with guest rock bands — El Artefacto, Llena Tu Cabeza de Rock, and Royal Project — to present symphonic versions of iconic hits like “Enter Sandman”, “Welcome to the Jungle”, “November Rain”, and “For Whom the Bell Tolls.”

Under María Barbosa’s direction, the concert is not only a celebration of Bogotá’s cultural diversity, but also a powerful statement about inclusion, collaboration, and the evolving voice of classical music. The performance highlights the extraordinary talent of women in the orchestral field, offering a bold and inspiring reinterpretation of two of rock’s most legendary bands.
